SEO Provides Journalists A Good Price For Their Gift Of Words

August 15th, 2010 David Jones Comments off

News writing has been viewed vis-a-vis SEO writing to the disgust of some newsroom-rooted news writers. This is because, aside from news information, keyword-rich internet articles populate in the worldwide web. SEO services companies churn out these articles for the purpose of obtaining audience for a website, and building backlinks. These two are important components in launching an SEO campaign and attaining search engine recognition enough that it will designate the website on the first spot of the first page for search results.

News media writing and SEO writing have similar grounds. Both consider content highly. Knowing the fierce competition for following, journalists and internet article writers sharpen their skills for angles, inject creative hooks into their story, and come up with an interesting article. Although SEO writing is also for spiders, writers are aware that real human beings read the articles.

Do news writers have a reason to overpower SEO writers? If SEO writers uphold canons of ethical journalism, then no. In SEO writing, copying another’s work is not permitted, and so are erroneous grammar and meaningless composition. Google’s algorithms discriminate original content versus copied versions and would eliminate duplicates immediately.

When it comes to following, both internet and journalistic writing are in a rigid game. In fact, getting the attention of readers is even tougher for internet writers because web readers have a lot of other sources, and can easily change to other articles if they lose taste on the copy from reading the headline alone. News readers, on the other hand, can stay engrossed up to the third paragraph of a story.

Companies around the globe tap SEO companies recognising it as an internet marketing strategy they cannot do without. Singapore, for instance, is host to SEO companies that offer complete and leading strategies. The SEO Services Singapore-based companies offer enjoy the conducive environment for a tight-knit enterprise and internet marketing relationship peculiar to this tech-savvy country.

SEO writers are required to deliver excellent articles at gun-fire speed. Of all countries in the world offering SEO services, Singapore has the unique advantage of tapping writers offshore, particularly, from the Philippines, where there is no time zone difference. Timing is crucial in a deadline-defined work. The Philippines is also a country of expert article writers.

Another common ground for both journalism and SEO writing is the opportunity both present writers to butter their bread while satisfying their pleasure for the written word.

Do You Have A Search Engine Optimization Plan?

April 1st, 2010 Paul Chambers Comments off

Have you ever heard of a term known as search engine optimisation? You may not know much about it but you can probably bet your competitors do especially if their website is sitting higher up in Google than yours. With effective search engine optimization (SEO) techniques your website can obtain a superior position in the search engines. To make an example, if you have an online shop that sells running shoes you will not sell much unless you have customers arriving at your website.

How do customers find your website? Via a search engine. Out of the big three, Google, Yahoo and Bing, Google is the most popular. It takes an estimated 70% of all search engine queries. People log on to Google and then type in the search box to find what they are looking for. Back to our example about the running shoes. If someone types running shoes into the search box a list of appropriate websites, namely ten are listed. Which website do the majority of searchers click on? Of course it’s the number one listed result.

It’s true some browsers hit the back button to search through other sites on the list. But if a customer is eager to spend money they’ll generally purchase the product if they find it in the first few sites. That’s why you want to be at the top of the search engines. So how do you set this up? By following tried and tested methods.

There are generally two main areas of SEO. There is a process known as on-page optimisation, that involves making technical changes to your website, and off-page optimisation, which in involves promoting your website. On-page optimization requires you to have some technical knowledge. You need to know how websites are put together as this delves into website design.

Regarding off-page optimisation, this is a process of building back links to your website. The ideal situation is to have links from other websites that have the same subject matter as yours. What the links says (the anchor text) is also vitally important. If you want to rank highly in Google for the term “white running shoes” you have to have a lot of links, pointed back to your site with the anchor text “white running shoes”.

If this sounds confusing to you talk to a reputable search engine optimisation consultancy. They will explain the process in simple terms that you can understand. They can save you money and perform all the legwork for you. There are some things you should do to promote your site and others that you should avoid at all costs. Research as much as you can about SEO and start doing it yourself. For faster results consider working with a SEO company.

Fundamental Concepts Of SEO

February 19th, 2010 Carey Lim Comments off

Any query of a popular word in a search engine would result in a huge number of results. In such a situation, how a website gets itself among the topmost results of a query for a specific keyword is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO. Figuring at the top of a web search means more traffic for your website, resulting in more business, and that is why SEO has attained such prominence in the past few years.

SEO can be divided into black hat SEO and white hat SEO. The methods applied in black hat SEO for ensuring a place for the website in the top results are not seen as ethical. However, white hat SEO only applies those techniques which are approved of and do not violate the rules of the search engines.

With the purpose to understand the significance of a web page for a specific keyword, search engines conventionally used the page’s Meta data, which is inscribed into the code of the page by webmasters. However, nowadays most search engines use highly sophisticated algorithms, entailing the use of more than 200 distinct parameters to decide on the results.

SEO specialists try to find out the relevance of several components in the search algorithms and keep in touch with the latest modifications that are brought about by different search engines. This knowledge aids them in updating the SEO tactics for their customers to enable them to appear in top results of popular keywords. When the search results were exclusively dependent on Meta data and the content of the web page, this task involved optimizing the Meta tags of the web pages and ensuring that the keyword density of every page was just right.

Although these aspects are still quite important, search engines now give a lot more priority to the popularity of a web page. The popularity of a specific web page is decided by how many other pages link to it. This process is democratic in nature, where each link is similar to a vote for the specific web page. Because of this, now SEO has to focus on offsite techniques too, such as providing content for free to receive inbound links and developing a presence on online mediums for social interaction, such as blogs, forums etc.

The crucial aspect of SEO to be always remembered is that it is not a one time activity. SEO techniques are always trying to adapt to the changes happening in the sphere of online search. That is the reason why it is so important to hire a seasoned SEO consultant to assist you.

Google Changes Send Affiliates Scrambling

February 3rd, 2010 Eric Haaranen Comments off

If you’re familiar with pay per click as a method of generating traffic to your website you probably already know that Adwords is really the only game in town. That is if you want traffic fast and in volume. You are also aware then, that Adwords is a massive nuisance to set up properly. This is because Google insists that you play by their rules but rarely make these rules available to their advertisers.

Google also has a bit of a history for changing the rules of the game without any heads-up to their advertisers. This is often called the Google Slap. Back in the day you could just build a simple lead capture page and drive traffic to it using Adwords. Not anymore. Now Google wants to see some significant content on those sites so those site provide “value” to their visitors. This makes things especially tough for affiliate marketers.

Not too long ago, Google moistened its palm and gave a good whack to affiliates once again. This time the unfortunate targets seemed to be review-type sites where the owner or the visitors to the site review and discuss products and services within a particular market. The site contains affiliate links and if anyone happens to click through those links and make a purchase, the owner of the site gets paid a referral commission.

In any event, it seems that this week Google has changed their algorythms again and this time they are looking for Adwords advertisers that are driving traffic to these affiliate review pages or any type of landing page obviously promoting affiliate products. It seems a strange tactic by Google considering that affiliate marketing is such a huge part of online marketing and also that Google itself runs its own affiliate network.

However, it has happened and we must move forward. The question now is what can we, as affiliates do about this new terrain?

I can’t speak for everyone but what I’m doing seems to be working very well. You can see for yourself by clicking the link below.

Getting The Full SEO Benefits From A Blog

January 13th, 2010 David Anttony Comments off

WordPress is one of the world’s major and most widely used blogging software system. When it comes to SEO it is one of the best platforms that you can use.

This is part of a series of tip articles just about using WordPress for maximizing on Search Engine Optimization.

Tip: Make sure the blog is on YOUR site

We are often asked

If you are using your blog to enhance your SEO then you HAVE to place your blog on your web site – it cannot live on on a different website.

Do not even think about using a sub-web such as http://www.blog.myhotsite.com. Why would you use a sub web anyhow unless if you want a cool blog URL.

Sub webs are part of your web site but they are unclear from an SEO perspective. If you want to have the blog content 100% linked up with your website then make sure it is off a sub folder and NOT a sub web for example : http://www.myhappysite.com/blog.

Placing your blog on a sub web will not give you the same SEO advantage as having them as a sub-folder on your website. Sub webs may be treated different by different search engines – the result outcome will be unclear.

If your blog is presently hosted on blogger.com or wordpress.com then you should think about to move it as soon as manageable if you want to enhance your SEO position.

If you have some existing rankings for keywords on Google and Yahoo then you do need to be warned – adding a lot of new content may affect your ranking negativily at first.

We have experienced client ranking drop after adding a lot of new content in the form of a blog to a clients sites. Adding a blast of new content ‘dilutes’ your current site content if the new content is NOT Search Engine Optimization optimized for the keywords that you want to rank for. SEO Optimize the content before making it live to avoid this dilution effect. Taking the time to do this BEFORE you add it to your site will make a big difference to your existing ranking position.

One Stop Seo Tip

January 13th, 2010 David Anttony Comments off

There are two types of SEO, onsite and offsite. Onsite involves optimizing your website to make it search engine friendly. By changing your local site and adding special SEO components you can attract better results, and sometimes great results from search engines like Google.

You can get very good results with just onsite optimisation on its own but the results tend to be unstable and not effective continuing. To get top results you will need to do a lot off offsite optimization as well.

Top onsite SEO tip: change the page title

Believe it or not the changing the page title is one of the most important onsite optimization techniques you can do. The page title is what appears at the top of a browser on the left hand side. Visitors to your web site will not commonly take much notice of your page title because it is not shown on your page. However, search engines take a lot of notice of the page title.

If you do not know what the page title looks like in the HTML just open up any page in web browser and look at the page source (right click the page and select view source).

You will find the page title within the <title?</title? tags usually within the first few lines of the HTML code. This is an instance of an HTML title tag : <title? This is my page title</title?.

Search engines take a lot of notice of the page title because it is like the title of a book, it tells you what the book is about. If the title is clear and succinct it tells search engines exactly what the page is about then you can rank high for some of your preferred keywords.

The trick is to make the page title 100% of your keyword or as close to that as manageable. The more extra words, other than your keyword(s), that you have, will reduce the strength. Focus is everything in the world of SEO.

For example, avoid doing this: <title?Earth Worms in the Middle East</title? when your keyword is earth worms. Instead simply use: <title?Earth Worms</title?.

If you have multiple keywords only use 2 or 3 maximum or again the focus is diluted. If you are using multiple keywords then do it like this: <title?Earth worms | Middle East</title? – never use filler words like ‘in’ and ‘the’.

What Are The Greatest Tips To Increase Your Seo Rankings?

December 25th, 2009 Susan Reynolds Comments off

Any webmaster knows that search engine optimization is essential for the success of a website. Millions of companies present their products and services on the Internet, which makes SEO even more important. However, not all of them use the most appropriate techniques to promote their online business. Here are the best tips to increase your SEO Rankings:

The most important is to make everything possible to get more traffic to your website. More traffic means more visitors. Let’s suppose that your website is about makeup products. If it is well optimized, it will appear on the first pages in search engines when someone searches for a keyword related to makeup products.

Keywords are basically words that search engine spiders (a program that scans web sites and sends information back to search engines) use to determine the relevance of a website. Try to find the most appropriate keywords for your website. For example, if your site is about weight loss, use the words ‘weight loss diet’, ‘weight loss pills’, ‘how to lose weight’, etc.

If you look in the upper left of your web browser, you will see a text that displays the Web page you’re visiting and in some cases, a brief description of the website. This text is known as a web page title. The title is one of the first things that a search engine spider ‘sees’ when scanning a website. This is why you must choose relevant titles for your articles and posts.

There are some things you are not allowed to do if you want your website to be indexed by search engines. Don’t use white text on white background, don’t hide the text behind images and don’t set the font size to 0. Those who don’t follow these rules are penalized by Google.

Every page on your site should link to at least one other page. This will increase your website popularity. However, don’t exchange links with everyone, because some websites might work against you. Only exchange links with websites your visitors will find relevant. It doesn’t make sense to link to a fashion blog if your website is about politics.

Some people use link exchange schemes to manipulate Page Rank. Others link to malicious sites on the Web. Instead of breaking the rules using these strategies, try to write unique content. This is the best way to make your website visitors trust you and increase your SEO rankings.

The Internet is a unbelievably competitive market. Companies are competing to draw the attention of millions of Internet users, and the battle takes places in search engines. We’ve got practical Search Engine Optimization tips to increase your SEO Rankings and get more traffic to your site!

Forget About All But The Description Meta Tag

December 22nd, 2009 David Anttony Comments off

There is only one meta tag that most search engines use – the description tag. It is not usually used for SEO ranking purposes, but it is ordinarily used (including by Google) as the text on the search results listing.

The content of the description tag is used more often than not by Google when it displays the results pages for a keyword. It uses only the first 156 characters though so make sure if you are using it to check the length of the text. If you do not check the length your text will be truncated and it will look funny.

To check the length of a piece of text just paste it into a word document and then select the text and then double click the word count box at the bottom of the screen on the status bar.

All meta tags should be at the start of the page inside the head tags.

Google is a little rogue when it comes to using or not using the meta description tag. When it does use it you can have full control of what is exposed to prospective visitors but it will often vary what it uses at will with sometimes it just plucking a piece of text from your webpage.

If you want to control what Google exhibits then the very first 156 characters of text on a page should be highly controlled because if it does not use the description tag it will use this text.

If you have a flash site or just use pictures with a little text, you have a problem! We have seen Google pick up the alt text from an image and display this when it did not choose to use our description tag. This will tell you to ALWAYS have some text on your page even if it is only 156 carefully selected characters (including spaces).
